Tired but wired
If you drag yourself through the day and then get a second wind at ten at night, your cortisol rhythm may be flipped. Cortisol should be highest in the morning and lowest at night.
Chronic stress, poor sleep, blood sugar swings and too much caffeine all push that rhythm out of shape.
What helps
Eat breakfast within an hour of waking, with protein. Get morning daylight in your eyes. Cut caffeine after noon, or for a few weeks entirely. Add a pinch of sea salt to your water in the morning if you get lightheaded standing up.
Then support with whole food vitamin C and adrenal support. Give it two to three months.
When to get tested
A four-point salivary cortisol test shows your rhythm across the day. It's a useful baseline if symptoms are strong or not improving.
